Using SI_SCOPE In Single Port Mode

You can configure SI_SCOPE to utilize only one RS232 port on your PC. When in this mode SI_SCOPE will only be able to monitor one side of the communications link. In order to use only one port leave the values for port's address and irq set at zero from within the port configuration dialog . If you are using the Windows API/USB driver then choose the "NONE" option from port's dropdown menu.

Depending on your situation you may not need to use the included passive cable. Please use the following to determine what type of cabling to use.

IF YOU WANT TO USE THIS CABLING FOR BEST RESULTS

Use SI_SCOPE to passively monitor one side of a communications

link since my PC has only one serial port.

Refer to Appendix 'A' for examples on how to connect the passive cable.

Connect only one end of the 'Y' to the free port on your PC and start

SI_SCOPE . If you are viewing data from the wrong device change the

'Y' lead connected to your PC.

Use SI_SCOPE as a dumb terminal with a DCE or modem device. Connect your SI_SCOPE PC to the DCE device with a straight serial cable.
Use SI_SCOPE as a dumb terminal with a DTE device. Connect your SI_SCOPE PC to the DCE device with a NULL modem cable.
Use SI_SCOPE to monitor a half duplex RS485 line.

Connect SI_SCOPE to your line using a RS232-RS485 converter between

SI_SCOPE and the RS485 link.
