Turning On File Capture

To turn file capture on open the functions menu and select the "File Capture" option. A small sub menu will appear with two choices, file capture on, and file capture off. Choose the option you want, or press escape to abort the menu. If you turn file capturing on you will notice that the words "FILE ON" appear in the upper right hand corner of the screen, this indicates that SI_SCOPE is recording the session to disk.

At times you may only want to capture parts of a session to disk. You can turn file capture on and off as often as you like without affecting your data. Remember that time stamps are recorded with each byte so it will be easy to tell from the file when you turned file capture on and off.

You have the ability to control when SI_SCOPE flushes its file buffers to disk by specifying the time between flushes in seconds. You can also have SI_SCOPE automatically archive the capture file at a specified time each day. This is especially useful in situations where SI_SCOPE is running non stop. Both these features can be controlled from the command line or through SCOPECFG.

Note that when you turn file capture on for the first time in a session SI_SCOPE will overwrite any previously existing SI_SCOPE.DAT file. To have SI_SCOPE archive your capture file use the "Archive Capture File" from the Runtime Settings menu option in SCOPECFG.
