Setting Run Time Options
You can control the run time behavior of SI_SCOPE by choosing "Set Run-time Options"
from the Settings menu. This dialog allows you to turn on/off all the options
that are valid when SI_SCOPE runs in
Windows.

- Auto 16550 UART Detection: All modern serial
cards have a 16550 or higher chip that contains a built in FIFO for the
receive and transmit buffers. When this option is enabled
SI_SCOPE will check
for a
FIFO enabled UART and if found turn on the receive FIFOS. It is recommended that
you have this option enabled unless you need very accurate time stamp
information. When this option is on it is possible for multiple bytes
to have the same time stamp.
- Line Status Error Checking: When this option is
enabled SI_SCOPE
will post an error message to the screen whenever it detects
a line status error. This option is recommended if you are trying to debug a
line without knowing the RS232 line settings.
- Archive Capture File: When enabled
SI_SCOPE will
archive any existing capture file to CAPTURE.XXX where XXX is a
sequential number 001 to 999. When this file is off any existing capture file
is overwritten.
- Record Time Stamps: Enables time stamp information to
be recorded on each received event.
- Auto Archive Capture File: Enabling this option
causes SI_SCOPE to archive the capture file at a specified
time each day. The capture file is archived to to CAPTURE.XXX where XXX is a
sequential number 001 to 999. This option is useful if you are going to have
SI_SCOPE
monitor long
sessions and want to keep the capture file from growing too large.
- Capture Buffer Size: Controls the size of the review buffer used by the
program. The large this value the more data that can be reviewed from inside
the Memory
Window
- Flush File Buffer: Controls when
SI_SCOPE will flush the capture file when
capturing the session to disk.
