Configuring SI_SCOPE

This section details how to configure SI_SCOPE to run correctly under Windows using the included configuration program ScopeCfg. A link to this program can be found off your Windows Start Bar. This section covers the aspects of configuring SI_SCOPE that are common between all the supported Windows platforms. After reading this chapter you should consult the Appendix for details specific to the Windows version that you are using.

When running under Windows SI_SCOPE bypasses the standard Windows serial driver and uses its own driver (SIDRVR). SI_SCOPE'S drivers are designed for serial analysis and allow for signal capture and time stamping. The setup program detected the Win32 platform you are running and installed the correct SIDRVR version. Note that SI_SCOPE will not replace or modify the operating system's serial driver. All of SI_SCOPE'S drivers are designed to work in conjunction with the Microsoft supplied driver. If you are running on a dual boot system it is required that you run the install under each operating system and install the software to different directories.

You can also configure SI_SCOPE to use the standard Windows driver instead of SIDRVR. Using this option allows you to configure SI_SCOPE to run with a USB-RS232 converter. Consult the Appendix for more details.
