Launching SI_SCOPE

Before running SI_SCOPE it is a good idea to save the settings you have entered. To save the current settings open the file menu and click on the "Save" option. The next time you run SCOPECFG your settings will be restored.

To start analyzing a serial line make sure you have the SI_SCOPE cabling properly connected to the two ports you are using. For directions on hooking up the cabling see Appendix A. Once the cabling is connected and all the port information described earlier in this section is properly entered you can start SI_SCOPE by clicking on the "Run" menu option. When SI_SCOPE has finished loading you will notice that the word "WIN" is displayed in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

You can also launch SI_SCOPE from a command line without running SCOPECFG. To do this run the program si_scope32.exe that is in the directory where you installed SI_SCOPE. When running from a command line you need to pass the port and irq information on the command line. The command line options are:

OPTION MEANING
/B:##  Specify communications buffer size in kilobytes
/I1:##  Specify IRQ used for port1
I2:##  Specify IRQ used for port2
/P1:####  Specify the decimal address of port1
/P2:####  Specify the decimal address of port2
/NO16550  Turn off 16550 UART detection
/NOALERT  Do not alert user on line errors
/ARCHIVE  Archive capture files
/NOSTAMPS   Turn off time stamps
/FLUSH:##  Flush the capture file to disk every ## seconds.
/AUTO_ARCH:hh:mm

Auto archive the capture file at the specified time each day. Time is

specified in a 24 hour format and must be zero filled as follows: 05:45.
