The SI_SCOPE package comes with a Win32 engine (si_scope32.exe) that can only be run on a Win32 platform such as Windows 9x/ME, NT, 2000, XP or 32 bit Vista. 64 bit versions of XP and Vista are not supported at this time. When you install SI_SCOPE the setup program will detect the version of Windows and install the correct version of SIDRVR on your system. SIDRVR is the 32-bit Windows driver that is used to control the serial ports you are using for communications analysis. Please note that if you are installing SI_SCOPE on a dual boot system you need to install the software in two different directories.
A copy of our legacy DOS version of the analyzer is also included if you purchased the product on CD-ROM. Please note that we will answer emails on how to use the DOS analyzer but we are no longer making any code changes or enhancements to the product.
In order for SI_SCOPE to analyze a serial line you need to properly connect the passive 'Y' cable. The passive cable is easy to install. Just connect the two 9 pin cables to the correct serial ports on the computer you are going to use to run SI_SCOPE. The two 25 pin ports of the tri-port hood are used to break the serial line you want SI_SCOPE to monitor. Lastly the single end of the 'Y' is connected to the 9 pin port of the tri-port hood. Please see appendix A for cabling diagrams outlining cable setups for the most common situations. If you purchased SI_SCOPE on CD-ROM them a prefabricated passive cable is included with the product. If you purchased SI_SCOPE in electronic format then you need to construct a passive cable using the cabling instructions included with the software.
