Appendix A (Connecting the SI_SCOPE Cable)

Example 1: DTE device to a DCE device

An example of this configuration would be a computer (DTE device) connected to a modem (DCE device). The computer gets connected to the DTE end of the SI_SCOPE hood and the modem gets connected to the DCE end. Use a straight serial cable for both connections.

Example 2: DTE device to a DTE device

An example of this configuration would be a computer talking to another computer. Connect one computer to the DTE end of the SI_SCOPE cable hood using a straight serial cable and the other to the DCE end using a NULL modem adapter.
